Supporting your CAF business processes

The objectives of eCAF are to facilitate smarter multi-agency working by implementing information systems that can support a shared language across agencies. eCAF is designed to help children's professionals identify children's with additional needs and provide easier, less bureaucratic access to a range of services. This earlier intervention with vulnerable children is intended to provide better quality and more appropriate referrals and to help reduce statutory interventions.

CareWorks has developed and delivered CareWorks eCAF, an electronic CAF management information system designed to support the full range of business processes associated with the Common Assessment Framework. CareWorks eCAF is highly configurable to support local interpretations of CAF and the national requirements set out by the DCSF.

Reliable business and technical expertise

CareWorks eCAF has been developed in partnership with the Pan Dorset Consortium (Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole) which has been selected by the DCSF as a national lead site for eCAF. Our solution has been implemented in Poole within the timeframe set by the DCSF.

The development is based on the guidance published by the Department for Education and Skills and on our experience of developing and delivering similar live systems to 70 Children's and Youth Offending Services in England since 1999.

CareWorks has also joined forces with Social Information Systems (SIS), an independent research and consultancy firm with 25 years experience of developing, implementing and evaluating children’s services initiatives. SIS provides expert business knowledge to support the configuration and implementation of CareWorks eCAF.
